Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has been praised by Abdullahi Abubakar, the Zamfara State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), for signing the child rights bill among other measures in the state.
In a speech to the coalition for human rights on Monday in Gusau to commemorate the conclusion of 16 days of activity against gender-based violence, the Zamfara State Coordinator revealed that bandit operations in the state had harmed people’s dignity.
16 days of activism against violence against women and girls will come to an end in December 2022, and 74 years have passed since the United Nations made this statement.
The national human rights day, according to him, is a time for reflection on the ideals of human life, dignity, equality, and freedom for all people, regardless of unusual circumstances. He added that while race, tongue, and skin color may differ, “the human race must stand” because of this.
According to him, the Zamfara State Coalition for Human Rights, the topic of 2022 Human Rights Day is “Dignity Freedom and Justice For All.” From January to December 2022, 1134 cases were received, and nearly 70% of them were resolved.
“Bandits who kill, kidnap for ransom, and rape women and children have violated the dignity of the human being.”
He bemoaned the fact that forced labor and economic hardship had led to the displacement of thousands of individuals.

The Zamfara Child Right Bill was among the significant bills signed this year by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle, who was commended by the human rights commission.
There is much work to be done in order to raise the level of living for our population while upholding their basic human rights.
He also acknowledged Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha, the state’s deputy governor, for his support and endorsement of the allotment of land for their permanent structure in the state.
He gave the assurance that the national human rights commission would continue to work with all relevant parties to advance and protect the rights of all state citizens.
