First aviation minister of Nigeria, Mbazulike Amechi, has died at the age of 93. The First Republic minister passed away early on Tuesday, November 1, according to a statement from his son Ezeana Amaechi.

The Ume Amaechi, Ezeana Ihidede, and Umu Mmara families of Amihe Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State announce the quiet passing of our esteemed son, father, and grandfather, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.

The statement continues, “We praise God for the full life he lived, the lives he impacted, and his dedication to God and nation. He passed away almost a year after losing his wife, Chinelo Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 91.
