Hugo Ekitike scored the game’s opening goal in the fifth minute after Messi launched an early attack in the first half and passed to Nordi Mukiele to his right.
The same three players contributed to doubling the lead in the second half during a beautiful exchange of passes that saw Messi score with ease and Mukiele find his second assist of the game.
The Argentina forward also nearly scored in the 33rd minute when he attempted a right-footed curler, but Paul Bernardoni, who was also having a good day at work, saved it.
Contrary to what the final score indicates, the Angers goalkeeper made three outstanding stops, including one during injury time in the second half when Mukiele’s header from a corner kick by Neymar was stopped by the French ‘keeper.
The victory puts PSG in first place in Ligue 1 with a six-point advantage over Lens, while Angers, which has lost 10 straight games, remained at the bottom of the standings with just eight points through 18 games.
More will come.
