Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa affirmed that “no amount of false accusations will distract” the military from its mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity. His statement follows an investigative panel’s report from the National Human Rights Commission, which dismissed recent allegations against the military.

The panel was formed after Reuters published claims accusing the Nigerian military of operating a secret and illegal abortion program in the North East, purportedly terminating at least 10,000 pregnancies of victims of Islamist militants. The panel, led by Justice Abdu Aboki (retired), found no evidence to support these allegations, with witness testimonies indicating no such program or policy exists.

Musa commended the panel’s thorough work and emphasized the military’s ongoing commitment to human rights and peace restoration efforts across Nigeria.
