On Saturday night, the army killed eight terrorists, foiling their attempt to attack the Wawa Military Cantonment in Borgu Local Government, Niger State.
It was learned that the coordinated efforts of the Nigerian Air Force and the Army in the area prevented the planned attack, which would have caused further harm to the military and bloodshed in the nearby towns.

Additionally, it was learned that the terrorists intended to release some of their fellow soldiers in the military cantonment and maybe launch an attack on nearby villages.

Unconfirmed accounts claim that three of the terrorists, including their leader, were arrested by the Army even though eight of them were shot to death.

According to reports, some terrorists managed to flee after being shot, while some soldiers were hurt during the fireworks.

To prevent any potential retaliation from the terrorists, the Army has increased security in the barracks and the surrounding area.

In the meantime, soldiers from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army engaged four terrorists in combat during Operation Forest Sanity at Maidaro, Kagi Hill, Kusharki, and Anguwan Madaki in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Others fled in confusion, added Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, director of Army Public Relations, in a statement.

The brave soldiers found four motorcycles, six Dane rifles, three locally made pistols with one 9mm round each, two AK-47 rifles with two 7.62mm special rounds, and one automatic pump action gun with three ammunition, he said.

“In a separate operation carried out by another fighting patrol team of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, troops along Sabon Birnin- Zartake, Ungwan Lima Riyawa and Tungan Madaki general area, closely supported from the air by platforms of the Nigerian Air Force, intercepted fleeing bandits from Kagi Hill. The forces neutralized 3 militants in the ensuing battle.
