The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced on Monday that President Bola Tinubu will be inaugurating a series of key infrastructure projects in Abuja to mark the second anniversary of his administration.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Wike stated that the initiative would span two weeks, during which President Tinubu will oversee the commissioning of several projects. These will not only focus on central Abuja but will also extend to the satellite towns, ensuring broader coverage of the capital city.
Wike likened the upcoming initiative to “flogging” the city with infrastructure, emphasizing that this was meant in a positive sense. “We want to flog Abuja residents with infrastructure,” Wike explained. He added that the President would delegate some of the inauguration duties to the Vice President, Senate President, and Speaker of the House, while the major projects would be commissioned personally by President Tinubu.
Highlighting the importance of reaching out to residents beyond the city center, Wike mentioned that it was crucial for the President to visit satellite towns to ensure that all parts of the capital benefit from the new developments. This approach, according to Wike, will allow Abuja residents to feel the President’s presence and directly experience the positive changes in their communities.
