  • Project Launch: Minister Nyesom Wike will begin commissioning six significant road projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) starting Monday.
  • Key Projects: These include the 5-kilometer Naharati-River Ukya to Unguwan Hausawa Road in Abaji, the 11-kilometer Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo Road in Kwali, and the rehabilitation of the 9-kilometer Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road in Gwagwalada.
  • Ongoing and Upcoming Projects: Several other road projects are either ongoing or set to commence soon, including the Kabusa-Takushara Access Road and the reconstruction of the Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, will begin the commissioning of six major road projects across the FCT’s six area councils starting this Monday. According to a statement by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and New Media, the commissioning will kick off with the newly constructed 5-kilometer Naharati-River Ukya to Unguwan Hausawa Road, complete with a three-span river bridge, in the Abaji Area Council.

The commissioning schedule includes several other key road projects:

  • The 11-kilometer Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo Road in the Kwali Area Council.
  • The rehabilitation of the 9-kilometer Paikon Kore-Ibwa Road in Gwagwalada.
  • The newly completed asphalt carriageway from Garage Junction to the Local Education Authority Secretariat in the Kuje Area Council.
  • The Gaba-Tokulo Road, which features a two-span river bridge in the Bwari Area Council.
  • The Access Road to Saburi I and II communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), connecting ONEX to the Old Keffi Road near the Dei-Dei International Market.

In addition to these completed projects, several others have recently commenced, including the construction of the Kabusa-Takushara Access Road, the Kabusa-Ketti Access Road, and a new access route to the EFCC Academy in Giri District. A 15-kilometer road linking the A2 Junction on the Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pia in the Kwali Area Council is also under development.

Ongoing projects include the reconstruction of the 25-kilometer Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali, the rehabilitation of the Old Ushafa-LUD Road, and the Dutse-Lower Usuma Dam Dual Carriage Road in Bwari. Other notable projects progressing include the 11-kilometer road connecting Aguma Palace, Radio Nigeria, and New Market in Gwagwalada, as well as the Dakibiyu District Dual Carriage Road.

Further developments include the 11-kilometer Kuje Road, the 4-kilometer Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Road) from Life Camp to Ring Road III, and Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way), which features two interchanges. An 11.3-kilometer access road to the Judges Quarters in Katampe from Arterial Road N11 (Ahmadu Bello Way in Mabushi) is also underway.

These ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity and enhance the transportation network across the Federal Capital Territory.
