  • Says she was never informed about the burial
  • Claims father-in-law tried to bury Mohbad the night he died
  • Alleges attempt to abduct her son on burial day

Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian music star Mohbad, has revealed that she learned about her husband’s burial through the internet.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, less than 24 hours later by his father, Joseph Aloba. However, Omowunmi disclosed that she was not informed about the burial arrangements and only found out online.

She recounted that it took the intervention of family and friends to stop her father-in-law from burying the singer on the very night he died.

“There was a nurse involved in this matter. My husband reacted to an injection. The night he passed, my father-in-law came to the house, and the nurse explained everything that happened. Mohbad’s manager wanted to have her arrested, but my father-in-law insisted she be left alone,” Omowunmi said.

She further alleged that several people pleaded with her father-in-law not to proceed with the burial immediately, but he refused. “Even on the day they finally buried him, I wasn’t informed. I only got to know through social media,” she added.

Omowunmi also claimed that on the day of Mohbad’s burial, her father-in-law and a woman attempted to abduct her son, Liam. She expressed her grief, saying, “It still feels like my husband is alive. His body remains in Yaba morgue. He has not been reburied. It’s heartbreaking. His body has been tampered with twice.”

Following suspicions surrounding Mohbad’s death, his body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy. The results are still pending. Meanwhile, his father, Joseph Aloba, has stated that the late singer will not be reburied until all controversies surrounding his passing are resolved.
