Babatunji Wusu –
In order to streamline its micro-banking operations, microfinance bank Moniepoint has introduced a personal banking app.
Ope Adeyemi, senior vice president of moniepoint’s channels and sales, who oversaw the product’s introduction to the media in Lagos, said customers could use the app for financial activities including money transfers and bill payments, among other things.
According to Adeyemi, the new software featured a gamified in-app approach that would let thousands of users win N2,000 each week in addition to a N10 million grand prize.
“We want to supercharge financial inclusion because we realize that rewarding consistently good behavior will drive behavioural change and increase adoption,” Adeyemi added.
“After completing transactions, customers are rewarded with coins on our personal banking app, and these coins enable them to participate in fun weekly games.”
Babatunde Olofin, acting managing director of Moneypoint, stated that every Nigerian should have access to financial services as a fundamental right, not a privilege.
According to Olopi, the microfinance bank has increased the number of enterprises using its platform to 1.5 million as a result of its efforts to ensure financial access throughout the nation.
He continued by saying that Moniepoint now handled over $400 billion transactions each month, totaling $12 billion.
Everyone deserves financial access, he said. Access to money ought to be a fundamental right, not a privilege. We currently provide various financial services, such as payments, credit, digital banking, and business management solutions, to over 1.5 million organizations.
