Afrobeats star and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, has declared his intention to run for the presidency of an African country, signaling a bold turn from music to politics.

In a video shared on Snapchat, the Skin Tight hitmaker—who recently tied the knot with Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola—said he has long considered the idea and now feels ready to make it public.

“I’ve been thinking about it. I think it’s time to share it with you guys. Some of you might be from some country, specifically in Africa, and you are looking for a president; a president who is not looking for money and power but forward-thinking, young, active and can move your country better. So, I’m officially putting myself forward for the presidency,” he declared.

Although Nigerian by birth, Mr Eazi maintains a deep connection with Ghana, where he studied and launched his music career. He credits the West African nation for inspiring his unique Banku music sound—a blend of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian rhythms.

His declaration adds him to the growing list of Nigerian entertainers eyeing political roles. In April 2025, actress Eniola Badmus hinted at her senatorial ambition, while former lawmaker Ben Bruce once predicted that Davido might someday become Governor of Osun State.

As the lines between entertainment and politics continue to blur in Africa, Mr Eazi’s announcement could mark the beginning of another celebrity-driven political chapter on the continent.
