Nollywood actor Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr. Macaroni, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for his recent outburst directed at residents of Abuja. Wike expressed frustration towards the inhabitants of the Lugbe area, accusing them of land grabbing during a visit following protests against the demolition of their properties.
Dressed in a blue suit and his signature bowler hat, Wike confronted the residents, emphasizing the importance of legally acquiring land. He stated, “It cannot work. You cannot come to a place and seize land and say it is your own. We will not allow that. If not for lawlessness…” He further asserted, “If you do not know what to do, we will teach you what to do.”
In response, the residents protested, asserting that they had legal documents proving their ownership of the land. “We are not land grabbers, we are developers. We have papers. We have submitted these papers to the authorities,” they stated collectively. Wike, visibly agitated, interrupted them, commanding, “Shut up!” He insisted, “Every land in the FCT belongs to the FCT. The Supreme Court said the area councils do not have that power to allot land.”
In a post on X, Mr. Macaroni urged Wike to engage with Nigerian citizens respectfully, reminding him that they are the ones who pay his salary. He expressed, “Dear @GovWike, you are a PUBLIC SERVANT! Next time you want to address the citizens who pay your salary, do so with utmost humility and respect. Never go about asking Nigerians if they are stupid… you are not doing anyone a favor by being Minister!!!”
Macaroni concluded his message with a pointed remark about Wike’s attitude, saying, “Is it because I came down to talk to you? lol… You must think you are talking to your slave.”
