• Hike follows Dangote Refinery’s halt of Naira sales
• Other filling stations adjust pump prices
MRS filling stations, a partner of Dangote Refinery, have raised the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N930 per litre in Lagos and N950 per litre in Abuja.
It was observed on Saturday that the MRS outlet along Kubwa Expressway, Abuja, has implemented the new price template, marking a N70 to N80 increase from the previous rates of N860 and N880 per litre.
A motorist in Abuja reacted to the price surge, saying, “I was not surprised at the hike; we saw it coming after Dangote Refinery announced days ago that it had stopped selling petrol in Naira.”
The price adjustment follows Dangote Refinery’s March 19 decision to suspend petroleum product sales in the local currency.
Similarly, other filling stations in Abuja have reviewed their pump prices. Empire Filling Station in Gwarimpa, for instance, increased its petrol price from N945 to N975 per litre.
However, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has maintained its retail pump price at N880 per litre in Abuja as of Saturday evening.
