The WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will include the late boxing great Muhammad Ali, also referred to as “The Greatest.”
On April 5, in conjunction with this year’s WrestleMania celebrations, the induction ceremony will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The international news source Variety revealed the situation on Monday.
Throughout his incredible career, Ali won gold medals at the Olympics and was the three-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. Global audiences were enthralled with his performances in the ring.
But Ali’s influence went much beyond athletics. In addition, his artistic pursuits, activism, and endearing demeanor won him recognition and made him a well-known figure.
Ali’s participation in “The War of the Worlds” on June 26, 1976, was one significant moment in his career. The Nippon Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan hosted this exhibition matchup between Antonio Inoki and the Japanese team.
The fight, which was fought under strict guidelines, resulted in a 15-round tie. In addition to drawing a sizable audience through closed-circuit television, it was witnessed by 32,000 people, including 33,000 at Shea Stadium in Queens, New York.
This incident emphasizes the significant influence of Ali and is frequently cited as a forerunner to contemporary mixed martial arts.
Ali continued to compete in combat sports after retiring from boxing with an outstanding 56-5 record that included 37 knockouts. During the inaugural WrestleMania in 1984, he was most famously the special guest referee for the main match between Hulk Hogan and Mr. T against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff.
Ali’s famous right-hand punch to Piper throughout the fight changed the course of the bout and put Piper under control.
At the age of 74, Ali departed from this life on June 3, 2016, bringing an end to an era. Still, he leaves behind a lasting legacy as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time.
