Tunji Wusu –
Hannatu Musawa, the new minister of arts, culture, and the creative economy, has responded to calls for her removal since she is still an active NYSC corps member.
The minister has been working in the FCT for the last eight months, according to NYSC Director of Press & Public Relations Eddy Megwa, who stated this on Friday.
He clarified that until the one year of service was complete, it was against the NYSC legislation for any corps member to get a government post.
On the other hand, in response to the accusation, Musawa issued a statement on August 27 that read in part: “The last few days have witnessed barrage of media att@cks & misinformation about me following my nomination & swearing-in as the Minister of Art, Culture & Creative Economy by President Tinubu.
It is true that I am now doing my NYSC national service, which I started eight months ago out of a sense of obligation and loyalty to my country since I haven’t been able to finish the program since I was first mobilized in 2001.
