President Bola Tinubu claims that as a responsible government, his administration is aware of Nigeria’s security situation and is prepared to allay any worries that Nigerians may have.

Vice President Kashim Shettima spoke on behalf of Tinubu during the Thursday concluding ceremony of the 160th Anniversary of the Nigerian Army and the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

He reassured Nigerians of his government’s determination to address all dangers and tackle the nation’s security issues as quickly as possible.

The President declared that his administration would keep doing everything within its power and within the bounds of the Constitution to guarantee the safety of law-abiding individuals and the unity of the country.

I pledge my commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian Army and the whole Armed Forces, and I will solve the equipment shortage, inadequate financing, and other issues that are impeding their effective operation, he added.

In order for the Armed Forces to properly conduct their activities, Tinubu continued, his administration has set in place a framework that would comprehensively address all of the issues they face.

The President praised the Nigerian Army and other security forces while urging all Nigerians to stand together and abstain from any actions that would split the country.

He stated, “I commend you for your cooperative efforts in combating Boko Haram and I implore you to emulate same in combating banditry and other criminals aiming to destabilize the country.

The Nigerian Army, according to Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is fulfilling its constitutional obligations.

Through efficient internal security and peacekeeping operations, the Army will keep helping to provide appropriate national and international security, he declared.

According to Lagbaja, the Nigerian Army’s sustained efforts have significantly reduced the country’s exposure to insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality.

He added that the Nigerian Army had advanced significantly in terms of professionalism, management, and cooperation with sister organizations.

The COAS thanked President Tinubu for his unwavering encouragement and support and swore his allegiance to the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, the chief of the defense staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the chief of the navy, and Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the chief of the air force, were all in attendance.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, a representative of the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, two former Chiefs of Army Staff, and other traditional figures were also in attendance.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the event included displays of military vehicles and equipment, physical training, and the Nigerian Army’s skills and professionalism.(NAN)
