The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated counterfeit medicines worth over N300 million during a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
In a statement released Thursday on its verified X account, NAFDAC revealed that the operation uncovered fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampicloxa capsules 500mg, and packaging materials for Augmentin capsules 625mg.
The facility has been sealed off, and all unauthorized products have been removed. The agency warned that these counterfeit drugs pose significant health risks, such as treatment failure, organ damage, and cancer-causing effects due to their unknown components.
A suspect has been summoned for questioning as investigations continue. NAFDAC urged the public to stay alert and promptly report suspicious products or activities to its offices.
