The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted Nigerians about the sale of unregistered Foula condoms, found recently in Ebonyi and Katsina States. Officials from NAFDAC’s Post-Marketing Surveillance directorate discovered these condoms, which lack English-language labeling, during a surveillance study focused on condom safety.

“This condom brand is not approved by NAFDAC, which raises safety and quality concerns,” stated the agency. NAFDAC emphasized that unverified condoms risk failure, which could undermine efforts to prevent unintended pregnancies and protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

NAFDAC has directed regional directors to monitor and remove the product from shelves across Nigeria. The agency urged healthcare professionals, retailers, and consumers to ensure they only purchase medical products from licensed suppliers, advising anyone who encounters suspicious products to report them to NAFDAC at 0800-162-3322 or through their official reporting channels.
