The Nigerian Police Force has detained an officer who appeared in a viral video alongside Wahab and Raheem Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya.

In a statement issued on X on Friday, Police Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that disciplinary action is being taken to address the officer’s conduct.

The video, which has drawn widespread criticism, shows the officer holding bundles of naira notes as the Okoya brothers are seen allegedly engaging in acts deemed as abuse of the national currency.

In the footage, Wahab and Raheem, dressed in white agbada attire, display stacks of new N1000 notes, while the officer is filmed holding several bundles as the billionaire’s sons dance and throw the money into the air.

The police also reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining the integrity of the force and taking action against any conduct that tarnishes its reputation.

The statement concluded, “The policeman featured in the viral video, where he was seen with the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Okoya in a naira abuse incident, has been identified and detained for necessary disciplinary measures.
