The Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA) has requested that the state government and local governments work together to set up the necessary systems to hire competent and qualified primary school teachers in the state. The state government was encouraged to declare a state of emergency over elementary education by the House in a resolution at the same time.
The House bemoaned the fact that 3,665 primary school teachers died or retired between 2011 and 2021, leaving a gaping job gap, and said that this was to blame for the state’s declining primary education standards.
After Hon. Daniel Ogazi, the head of the House Committee on Education, brought up the subject of the topics of public significance during today’s House sessions in Lafia, the speaker, Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, made the call (Monday).
The speaker claimed that if competent and qualified instructors were hired to manage the operations of primary schools, it would significantly raise the state’s declining primary education standards.
