The Presidency has criticized the current statewide strike by NLC and TUC members.
The labor unions went on strike last week in response to the assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero during a protest in Imo State.
“Calling out workers on a national strike over a personal issue of a labor leader despite a clear court order against any industrial action amounts to an abuse of privilege,” said Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Power should never be used to settle personal scores at any level. Instead, it should be used to foster communal progress and national interests.
This obvious disregard for court orders and disrespect for the judiciary should not be supported by organized Labour.
This decision by the NLC and TUC is manifestly unnecessary, aside from being an ego-tripping maneuver.
