The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has donated and inaugurated an E-Health Solution at the Ondo State-owned Specialist Hospital, in a move aimed at reducing queues and improving the efficiency of healthcare delivery.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida represented by Project Director Philip Eretan said the project is part of the Commission’s broader initiative to harness Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for transformative impacts in the health sector.

“The completion of this E-Health project is a testament to NCC’s commitment to innovation and driving growth within the digital economy,” said Maida. “ICT not only integrates the health sector into the digital space but also ensures citizens access efficient and quality healthcare services.”

According to the NCC, the facility is expected to streamline medical processes, enhance patient care, and improve health record management.

Acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Adesina Akintan represented by the Director of Research and Training, Dr. Ndiddi Okunnugba described the intervention as unprecedented. He emphasized the need for training healthcare personnel to maximize the platform’s potential.

“This initiative will allow doctors and healthcare workers to track patient progress, share medical data securely, and coordinate better care,” Akintan noted.

The project aligns with the NCC’s strategic push for wider ICT adoption across public institutions, furthering its goal of creating a robust and inclusive digital health framework across Nigeria.
