Babatunji Wusu –
Soon, Globacom users might not be able to dial MTN numbers, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The NCC said that this resulted from the connection charges not being paid.
This was revealed by the commission on Monday in a public notice that was signed by Reuben Muoka, the director of the public affairs department.
The announcement stated that the NCC had partially approved Globacom’s separation from MTN Nigeria Communications Plc.
“After learning of MTN’s application, Globecom was given the chance to respond and make its case.
After reviewing the case and the facts underlying the debt, the Commission concluded that Globacom lacked a valid justification to withhold payment of the interconnect fees.
The NCC further said that Globacom subscribers will be permitted to receive calls but not make calls to MTN once ten days have passed from the date of this notice.
Part of the message stated, “The partial disconnection, however, will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.”
