The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has warned the public to be on the lookout for con artists who frequently exploit its name and emblem on shady websites and social media accounts in an effort to mislead consumers.
The commission informed stakeholders that it was not a part of the alleged “$100,000 household grant to support SMEs by providing financial help to all Nigerian residents and firms,” according to a statement from its Director of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Ibitoye Abosede.
The bogus home grant application 2023, also known as the Niger Delta Development Commission Support Fund, is a swindle, according to Abosede.
The perpetrators of this crime have created a website that encourages “interested people and businesses to apply using an Application form portal 20: The link is bit.ly/nddc-sme-grant 2023.
“We implore everyone to exercise caution in order to prevent falling prey to this fake operation by certain doubtful persons who pose as the NDDC.
“NDDC has repeatedly warned the public that shady individuals are taking use of the Commission’s name and logo to mislead innocent people.”
To always double-check their information at the Commission’s official website and other social media accounts, Abosede advised those with legitimate enterprises.
Anyone who engages in fraudulent financial grants while purporting to speak for the NDDC or its management shall be treated as a criminal and referred to security services for appropriate sanctions.
