The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently refused a N10 million bribe meant to release Tsolaye Eburajolo, a 40-year-old suspect linked to a significant drug trafficking case. Eburajolo was arrested in Ago Palace, Okota, Lagos, for his connection to a large consignment of drugs seized in Lagos and Port Harcourt.
Between October 22 and 23, NDLEA agents, working with Customs and other security teams, intercepted drugs valued at over N16 billion during an intense inspection of flagged containers at Tincan Port, Lagos, and Port Harcourt Port, Onne. The confiscated items included 26.25 million tramadol pills, 508,400 bottles of codeine-based syrup, and an additional 10 million Toradol Benzhexol tablets. Further inspection revealed 28 drums of methamphetamine weighing 700 kg and 56 parcels of “Loud,” a potent cannabis variant.
A statement by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi added that the bribe money offered by Eburajolo was retained as evidence. Additionally, at three courier facilities, NDLEA agents seized 293 ampoules of promethazine and pentazocine injections, plus 1.690 kg of cannabis and tramadol hidden in hair attachments and shoe soles bound for the U.S., U.K., and Oman.
