Former Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, has congratulated Rev. Dr. Amos Musa Mohzo on his re-election as President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), urging him to spearhead efforts toward strengthening religious harmony across Nigeria.

Ndume, who hails from Gwoza in Borno South alongside the cleric, described Mohzo’s re-election as a testament to his lifelong dedication to service, mentorship, and community development.

The senator praised Mohzo’s steady rise from a trained teacher to various leadership roles within COCIN — including Deputy General Secretary, General Secretary, Vice President, and now a two-term President — as proof of humility and devotion to God’s calling.

“I have known you over the years as a humble, God-fearing personality,” Ndume stated. “Your unassuming disposition gives credence to the saying that ‘he who humbles himself will be exalted, and whoever exalts himself will be humbled.’”

He noted that Mohzo’s wealth of experience in leading diverse groups would be invaluable in countering divisive narratives aimed at inciting religious tensions in Nigeria.

“At this critical moment in our nation’s life, when external forces attempt to sow discord, your leadership in promoting interfaith trust will be vital,” Ndume said. “I urge you and other faith-based leaders to support the government in building mutual trust among Nigerians of different religions.”
