Release of the Senior School Certificate Examination results for November/December 2022 has been announced by the National Examinations Council (NECO) (SSCE).
In Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar of NECO, announced that 59,124 candidates had registered for the exam, with 31,316 male candidates (representing 52.96%) and 27,808 female candidates (representing 47.03%).
Wushishi said, “Of the 58,012 candidates who took the English Language exam, 44,162, or 76.13 percent, received a credit grade or higher. Of the 57,700 candidates who took the Mathematics exam, 43,096, or 74.69 percent, received a credit grade or higher.
He also revealed that 33,914 candidates, or 57.36 percent, received five or more credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
Additionally, 46,825 candidates, or 79.20%, received five or more credits, regardless of their proficiency in English or mathematics, he added.
Regarding exam malpractice, he claimed that 11,419 candidates had been reported for various forms of misconduct, compared to 4,454 in 2021, which demonstrated a substantial increase in the number of malpractice incidents.
He claims that the monitoring officers’ improved skill and plan are substantially to blame for this.
This resulted in the blacklisting of four supervisors—two from Ogun State and one each from the Rivers and Plateau States—for assisting and abetting as well as subpar monitoring, he claimed.
NECO administered the 2022 SSCE External from November 21 to December 21, and results were made public 57 days later.
Wushishi provided more details about the test, stating that 29 people in total were checked, just like in 2021.
