Babatunji Wusu –
The 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal Registration process has not had its deadline for submission extended by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Azeez Sani, the acting director of the NECO’s Directorate of Information and Digital Communication, made the denial in a statement on Thursday.
He underlined that the registration drive, which began on Monday, December 18, 2023, will formally finish on Monday, June 3, 2024, and that the council has not yet decided whether to prolong it.
As a result, he issued a call to action for all parties involved, including candidates, commandants, school principals, state ministries of education, and others, advising them to ignore claims on social media that claim to have extended the registration deadline to Monday, June 20, 2024.
However, the Director insisted that late registration, which is subject to a cost, will only be accepted from Tuesday, June 4 through Monday, June 10, 2024.
According to him “The Council enjoin Candidates, School Principals, Commandants, State Ministries of Education and other Stakeholders to disregard Social Media posts purporting that the registration period has been extended to Monday 20th June, 2024.”
Consequently he pointed out the 2024 SSCE Internal will commence on 19th June, 2024 and end on 26th July 2024, stressing that “Candidates will be assessed in 76 subjects during the examinations.”
