Popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has stirred conversation on social values in Nigeria after stating that people who are poor are rarely seen as role models in the country.

Nedu made the remark during a recent podcast conversation with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, where the pair discussed the growing influence of money on social perception and respect in society.

According to Nedu, financial success has become a major factor in determining who Nigerians admire or look up to, noting that people often disregard individuals who lack wealth.

“You can’t be a role model when you don’t have money in Nigeria,” he said during the discussion.

The media personality also made claims about lifestyle realities in Lekki, suggesting that many women living in the upscale Lagos area rely on financial support from men to afford their rent.

“Most women wey dey live for Lekki, na men dey pay their rent,” he added.

The comments were shared in a snippet posted on Nedu’s Instagram page and have since generated reactions online, with many social media users debating the role of wealth, morality, and influence in shaping public role models in Nigeria.
