President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), indefinitely to allow for a thorough investigation into the charges leveled against him while in office.

This is according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Willie Bassey, Director of Information for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The President’s suspension of the head of the anti-graft agency comes after serious allegations of abuse of position were leveled against him.

“Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” according to the statement.
