According to French club Paris Saint-Germain, Brazilian football player Neymar will have season-ending surgery on his injured right ankle and miss up to four months of action.
The Qatari-backed club announced that Neymar will miss PSG’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday and will undergo surgery in the coming days at a hospital in Doha.
In recent years, “Neymar Jr. has displayed repeated episodes of instability of the right ankle,” according to a statement from PSG. The Paris Saint-Germain medical staff advised a ligament repair procedure following his most recent injury on February 20 in order to reduce the likelihood of a serious recurrence. This requirement has been validated by every expert engaged.
In a 4-3 victory over Lille in the French league last month, Neymar sustained his most recent injury. He also had a right ankle injury in Brazil’s opening World Cup game in Qatar last year, but he was able to play again later in the competition.
