The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful dismantling of two major human trafficking syndicates operating across Enugu, Anambra, and Ondo States, resulting in the arrest of eleven suspects and the rescue of multiple victims, including children, pregnant women, and foreign nationals.

In a statement released on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that the coordinated operations were carried out by operatives of the Zone-13 Police Command and the Ondo State Command, following actionable intelligence.

Child Trafficking Ring Busted in Enugu and Anambra
A significant breakthrough came through a sting operation that targeted a well-established baby factory network in Enugu and Anambra States. Eight suspects, including Uzoamaka Ani (27), Joy Madu (52), and Victoria Onodu Akasike (56), were arrested. Interrogations revealed their involvement in child theft, abduction, illegal adoption, and the operation of unlicensed medical facilities used as baby factories.

Rescued victims include a seven-month-old infant, a four-year-old child, and two pregnant women from Ebonyi State who were reportedly held against their will for the purpose of forced births and the sale of their babies.

Transnational Human Trafficking Cell Uncovered in Ondo
A parallel operation in Ondo State uncovered a transnational human trafficking network. Details of this case are expected to follow as investigations continue.

The Police confirmed that all victims are now in safe custody and are receiving comprehensive medical and psychological support. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicates who remain at large.
