Nigerian Army, Bandits in Fierce Sokoto Clash

Reports indicate that Nigerian Army forces are locked in an intense firefight with bandits led by infamous gang leader Bello Turji in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State. Abdulsalam Suleiman Izuagbe, a senior consultant and public affairs analyst, told DAILY POST on Thursday that travel from Shinkafi to Sabon Birni has become unsafe due to the ongoing conflict.

“There’s a war in Sabon Birni,” Izuagbe shared. “Bello Turji is directly confronting the Nigerian Army. It’s no longer safe to travel between Shinkafi and Sabon Birni; the situation is far from business as usual.”

Efforts to reach the Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
