The leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has refuted reports suggesting that its officers were among those killed in the recent attack on border facilities in Kangiwa, Kebbi State. The attack occurred on the evening of Friday, January 10, 2025, at approximately 7:20 PM, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals: a local watchman and three contractors working at the site.

In a statement issued by Immigration spokesperson Kenneth Udo, the NIS clarified that although no officers were involved in the attack, significant damage was inflicted on its border facilities. The Service extended its condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that it is working in close collaboration with other security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

The NIS emphasized its continued dedication to maintaining border security and supporting national security initiatives, reaffirming its resolve in the face of such challenges.
