The Nigerian stock market fell by 0.1 per cent last week as investors took profits across most sectors, with industrial goods stocks standing as the only exception.
The Insurance Index recorded the biggest decline, dropping by 2.8 per cent, while the Oil and Gas Index fell by 2.6 per cent. Despite the weekly loss, the main equity index has gained 58.9 per cent since the start of 2026.
Investors will turn their attention to third-quarter earnings reports this week as listed companies race to publish their results before the 31 October deadline.
Premium Times has identified five stocks with sound fundamentals to help investors assess potential opportunities in the Nigerian stock market. The selection draws on market analysis and aims to guide investors seeking possible long-term price growth.
However, the publication stressed that the list is an investment guide, not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any stock. Investors may also consult a financial adviser before making investment decisions.
Unilever Nigeria leads the selection because of its strong fundamentals. The consumer goods company has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 18.8 times and a 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) of 62.8.
Stanbic IBTC Holdings also features on the list due to its fundamentals and its trading price relative to its estimated intrinsic value. The financial services group has a P/E ratio of 5.8 times and an RSI of 47.7.
Cornerstone Insurance makes the selection with a P/E ratio of 8 times and an RSI of 40.3.
Meanwhile, Aradel Holdings, an energy company, has a P/E ratio of 8 times and an RSI of 35.2.
Fidson, a pharmaceutical company, completes the list with a P/E ratio of 18.5 times and an RSI of 56.7.
As third-quarter results emerge, investors will be watching how company performance shapes sentiment across the Nigerian stock market.
