Nigerian Woman Explains Why She Won’t Leave UK

A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has shared the heartbreaking reason she would never relocate permanently to Nigeria, saying the loss of her two children to alleged medical negligence changed her life forever. She insisted that no amount of money could persuade her to return, explaining that her decision has nothing to do with financial gain.

During a recent interview, the woman, who identified herself as being from Ogun State, was asked whether she would accept different sums of money to move back to Nigeria permanently. She immediately rejected an initial offer of £200,000, estimated at about ₦400 million, saying, “I don’t care. You can’t even pay me enough to go back.”

Even when the hypothetical offer increased to £15 million, she remained firm. Responding to the proposal, she simply said, “£15 million, I can’t go back.”

Explaining her position, she revealed that she did not move to the United Kingdom in search of better financial opportunities. Instead, she relocated after losing two children to alleged medical negligence in Nigeria.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t migrate from Nigeria because of money. I lost two children to medical negligence.” She confirmed that both tragedies happened in Nigeria within two years of each other but declined to discuss the incidents further, saying the memories remain too painful. “I really don’t want to say much on it because I’m just going to break down.”

She added that doctors in the UK often struggle to believe her story. According to her, the quality of medical care she received during the birth of her son further strengthened her decision to remain abroad, as prompt treatment ensured his survival.
