Following the Ebola outbreak in the nation, Nigerians have been advised to refrain for the time being from non-essential travel to Uganda.
Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, Director-General of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), issued the alert on Monday, October 31 in Abuja. He explained that the warning is intended to help public health officials plan how to contain the Ebola outbreak.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Ugandan Ministry of Health recorded 128 confirmed cases and 34 deaths as of October 29, 2022. Adetifa advised travelers to avoid contact with people who are visibly ill or who may have Ebola when traveling to Uganda became necessary.
He said that the Federal Ministry of Health’s Port Health Service has increased screening of travelers arriving from Uganda at points of entry (POEs)
Travelers visiting Nigeria with recent Uganda travel experience should be on the lookout for symptoms, he said.
