Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello has signed a N243 billion appropriation bill into law.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the budget was N5 billion higher than the N238 billion budget proposal presented to the state House of Assembly for consideration.
Capital expenditure exceeded N152 billion, while recurrent expenditure exceeded N91 billion.
Administration received more than N9 billion, economics received more than N102 billion, law and justice received more than N1 billion, and the social sector received more than N38 billion.
Despite the scarcity of resources, Bello expressed confidence that the budget would benefit the people.
He stated that because this is his final budget, the incoming administration may make some changes or stick with the approved budget.
The governor, on the other hand, expressed hope that the 2023 budget, if fully implemented, would result in a better Niger State.
He praised the legislature for its continued support of the executive branch, as well as its proactivity and tireless efforts to ensure the passage of the 2023 bill.
Bello thanked the state Budget and Planning Commission’s leadership and members, as well as ministries, departments, and agencies, for their contributions to the budget’s passage.
Abdullahi Bawa, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, was represented by Alhaji Ahmed Marafa, member of the Chanchaga State Constituency, who presented the budget to the governor for approval.
