In the Kwallu District of the Bassa Local Government of Plateau State, at the Adu hamlet, no fewer than nine people were verified to have been killed by gunmen yesterday.
Eight people were shot on Sunday night in Bassa Local Government as a consequence of an attack, according to Capt. James Oya, spokesman for Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in command of Kaduna and Plateau states.

“Yes, I can confirm the murder; it’s a terrible thing. The attackers had left the area by the time troops arrived. Five individuals died as a result, while six others were hospitalized. But sadly, three of them passed away in the hospital, making a total of eight persons. Three people are in hospitals.

The death of the villagers was verified to reporters in Jos yesterday by Nuhu Bitrus, the spokesman for the Miango Youths Development Association.

He claimed that “nine people were killed in an attack at the Adu village yesterday (Sunday)”. It occurred around 9:00 p.m.

According to Bitrus, the incident forced the community to abandon its prior plans to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary of independence, turning the event scheduled for Monday (yesterday) into a day of sadness and prayer for the well-being of the populace.

The youth leader said: “We are not happy that we are mourning today the death of nine of our people at Adu village.”

who were slain in an incident last night (Sunday).

“It is terrible that we are assembling in Kwallu to mourn our people while others are celebrating Nigeria’s 63rd year of independence. We had intended to mark Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary of independence today (Monday) with a number of events, but we are no longer doing that. The occasion has been transformed into a day of prayer for the security of our neighborhoods.

The youth leader urged all tiers of government to put an end to such assaults in Bassa communities.
