In retaliation for the Federal Government’s failure to solve the problems brought on by the elimination of gasoline subsidies, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced a two-day warning strike, starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
On Friday, September 1, 2023, NLC President Joe Ajaero made the announcement while discussing resolutions from the NLC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday during a news conference at the Labour House in Abuja.
Channels Television reports that the labor union is blaming the Federal Government for ending the negotiations and not carrying out some of the decisions made at earlier sessions with the government.
On August 2, organized labor demonstrated against what it deemed to be President Bola Tinubu’s “anti-people” policies.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), numerous states, and their member unions hosted protests by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and NLC.
