Babatunji Wusu –
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) shut down the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Company Limited’s headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Human and vehicular movements were prohibited from entering the national oil company’s headquarters, and activity in numerous offices were hampered.
This is due to a direction issued by the Organised Labour, which includes the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), to all of its affiliate unions.
In response to the attack on the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in Imo State, Labour had urged its members to strike across the country.
Despite the fact that the National Industrial Court in Abuja had barred both the NLC and the TUC from going on strike, the unions disobeyed the judgment and went forward with the strike.
The Organised Labour declared during a press conference on Monday in Abuja that the government at all levels must wake up to its duties.
