Tunji Wusu –
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, was returned to the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday after being allowed to meet his personal physicians on Saturday.
On July 20, the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the DSS to provide Kanu access to his personal physicians, rejecting the DSS’s objection to the motion.
Kanu, according to IPOB, is suffering from an ear infection and requires surgery.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s counsel, informed reporters that Kanu, who has been detained February 2021, had access to his personal physicians and had been re-arrested.
“He has been attended to,” Ejiofor said, “and after preliminary examinations, he was taken back.”
However, the lawyer declined to speak further on his health concerns, among other things.
On Saturday, the IPOB counsel tweeted that Kanu had met with his personal doctors in an Abuja hospital outside the DSS facility.
According to Ejiofor, who witnessed the medical checkup, everything was smooth and productive.
