The Agwatashi and Assakio towns in the state’s Obi Local Government Area have crude oil, according to early findings by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, according to Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State.
The NNPCL discovered oil in the Keana LGA, and it is currently making final preparations to start drilling in March.
Governor Sule declared during a discussion with APC stakeholders on Tuesday in Obi LGA that his administration would not give up until Nasarawa State started to benefit from the 13 percent derivation as an oil-producing state.
The governor added that on February 18, 2023, the State Government would sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the NNPCL to allow them to start drilling for oil in Keana LGA without any delays.
He urged the members of the APC to vote for him again in the general election of 2023, vowing to continue bringing the benefits of democracy to the state’s citizens.
The Governor also urged the stakeholders to vote for every other APC candidate, from top to bottom.
“Preliminary investigations have indicated that there is oil in Obi LGA,” he stated. The NNPCL and the Nasarawa State Government will sign an MoU to drill for oil in the Keana LGA this coming Saturday, February 18.
“In 2019, many people believed that my mention of oil during my campaign was purely political. At the moment, I vowed to try and, with God’s help, use the knowledge I had gained during my time in Houston, Texas, the world’s oil capital.
“At that time, Keana was the only place oil had been found. Many individuals were unaware of the full scope of the oil discovery. The oil problem is currently a reality. The first oil well will now be drilled by NNPCL in March.
I won’t stop until we formally join the group of states that produce oil and start taking advantage of the 13 percent derivation. We anticipate significant development by May of this year.
According to our source, as part of his campaign, Sule paid respects to the palaces of both the Emir of Azara, HRH Alh. Dr. Muhammad Kabiru Ibrahim II, and the Osuko of Obi, HRH Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Ogiri.
The APC stakeholders in the Obi LGA have committed to mobilize support for all of the party’s candidates in order to assure their success in the general election in 2023.
