State-owned firm dismisses allegations as misinformation
Labels video originators as economic saboteurs
Says most Lagos petrol supply comes from Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has warned of legal action against individuals spreading false claims about its petrol quality.

In a statement on Saturday, NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye refuted a viral video alleging that its fuel burns out faster than that of Dangote Refinery. The company dismissed the claim as baseless, branding those behind the video as economic saboteurs bent on misleading the public.

“This deceptive video is yet another desperate attempt to misinform Nigerians and tarnish NNPC Ltd.’s image,” the statement read.

NNPCL stressed that it would no longer tolerate the deliberate spread of misinformation aimed at undermining its operations. The company vowed to take firm legal steps against those propagating falsehoods about its brand.

“Anyone engaged in such malicious activities will face the full wrath of the law,” it warned.

Additionally, NNPCL clarified that a significant portion of the petrol sold at its Lagos retail stations is sourced from Dangote Refinery.
