Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Bindow, has conceded defeat and congratulated the winner of the state governorship election, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Fintiri defeated Bindow of All Progressives Congress (APC) by 376,552 votes to 336,386 after supplementary polls were conducted on Thursday.
In a state broadcast on Friday, Bindow said he was conceding defeat on the basis of being a democrat.
“In view of the outcome and declaration of the results by INEC, I wish to congratulate the Governor-Elect Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over his election as the incoming Governor of Adamawa State and wish him successful tenure.
“As a emocrat, I cherish democratic norms and values, as it is practised in the civilised world,” he said.
