Afrobeats sensation Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has voiced her deep admiration for the indomitable spirit of Nigerians, describing it as unique and irreplaceable.
Speaking on a recent episode of the 90s Baby Show, the Joromi hitmaker said her favourite thing about Nigeria is the resilience and energy of its people, which, according to her, cannot be replicated anywhere else.
“My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it,” Simi said. “Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian. Even when they fake African accents in Hollywood movies, they never fake a Nigerian accent.”
She, however, lamented the state of the nation, noting that if Nigeria worked as it should, many citizens would not feel compelled to migrate abroad.
“That is why I wish the country was better,” she added. “Because I feel like no one would want to leave.”
Simi, known for her soulful lyrics and social commentary, has often used her platform to highlight issues affecting ordinary Nigerians while celebrating the country’s cultural pride and creative strength.
