In an interview with Channels Television on Friday, November 4, Mohammed Bello Shehu, the chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), made this statement.
Shehu refuted the claim that the RMAFC’s review of the compensation of public office holders is intended to raise the pay of politicians and those holding political office.
He asserted, “There are many gaps there (in remuneration), thus this is what has prompted us to perform this exercise at this time.
Contrary to what many people perceive and believe, we are not simply attempting to give the president, governors, and lawmakers bonuses or a huge package in order to give senators and representatives sizable salaries.
No senator, lawmaker, or minister in Nigeria makes more than a million naira a month.
