In a statement released on Wednesday, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra advised Ndigbo to disregard any demands for a sit-in or an electoral boycott in the South-East region on election day.

MASSOB warned against a repeat of the Imo State fiasco, where it said a governor was imposed against the will of the people, while urging South-East citizens to vote in the upcoming elections.

The pro-Biafra agitation group urged its followers to cast ballots for their preferred candidates on election day, stating that as they pursued the restoration of the Independent State of Biafra, the South-East region would not be left without representation.

So, it recommended Ndigbo to cast their votes for their favored candidates in large numbers on election day, especially for those who wouldn’t sell out Ndigbo for their own financial gain.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Samuel Edeson, MASSOB’s National Director of Communication, stated that “there shall be no sit-at-home on the days of elections.”

Do not let anyone mislead you in the name of Biafra because we are aware of the true agitators for Biafra and those hired to sow discord in our nation, the statement said in part.

“MASSOB urges that elections take place in Igbo land because we cannot let Ndigbo’s enemies ruin the land that God has given us.

It is obvious that some Ndigbo adversaries bought over some of our brothers, brainwashed them, and turned them against their own people. As a result, they killed our own people, wrecked our economy, and made life tough for our people.

“MASSOB wish to make it clear that we will not permit Igbo land to remain in a vacuum as we move forward with the Biafra project, which is the restoration of the Independent State of Biafra. Therefore, we advise Ndigbo to go out and vote for their preferred candidates on the 25th day of February 2023.”

“Any organisation or person declaring there shall be no election in Biafra territory are enemies of Ndigbo, and should be dismissed,” the group continued. If you don’t cast your ballot on that particular day, someone else will, and the Ndigbo opponents will use our people as their puppets, just as they did in Imo State.

“MASSOB has ordered all of her members to cast their votes for all of our candidates on election day.”
