The Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) has ordered its members to resume gas supply to IHS and other telecommunications operators to avert a nationwide network shutdown.
National President Bennett Okorie announced the decision on Saturday after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja. The move comes just days after NOGASA halted supply over debts running into billions of naira.
Okorie said the association’s change of stance followed assurances from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) that the debt crisis would be resolved. Supplies are set to restart on Monday, August 11, 2025.
“In the interest of energy security and Nigerians at large, we hereby resolve to resume our services immediately at the affected depots,” Okorie stated, directing members to operate round the clock to recover lost time.
However, he warned that the suspension of the service withdrawal would only last seven days. If the indebtedness is not cleared within the deadline, NOGASA will reinstate the supply ban without notice.
The association’s earlier supply halt had threatened to cripple telecommunications services across the country, with IHS and other operators relying heavily on diesel and gas to power their network infrastructure.
