Nollywood comic actor and skit maker, Okemesi, has reportedly slipped into a coma following complications allegedly linked to drugs administered during a recent hospital treatment.

The alarming development was disclosed on Monday night by fellow actor Jeff Owolewa, popularly known as Tony Montana, via Instagram. Jeff revealed that Okemesi, whose real name is Bamidele Tope Saint, was rushed back to the hospital after his condition deteriorated days after being discharged.

The incident comes barely 48 hours after the actor moved into a new apartment secured for him through public donations. Okemesi had earlier appealed for financial support after battling an illness that reportedly left him homeless and in dire condition.

According to Jeff, the actor began experiencing severe reactions over the weekend, sleeping excessively and losing his appetite due to suspected complications from medications prescribed during his previous hospital stay.

“I rushed to his house very early on Monday to take him to the hospital,” Jeff wrote. “He was rejected in different hospitals, including a government hospital in Igodo where the doctor said there was no bed space.”

Jeff further disclosed that after being turned away from multiple facilities, he had no choice but to return Okemesi to the private hospital that initially treated and discharged him last week. The hospital eventually admitted him and commenced emergency intervention.

Medical personnel reportedly stabilized the actor and placed him on oxygen support. However, Jeff confirmed that Okemesi has remained in a coma since Monday morning.

“His breathing is improving. He has been in coma since Monday morning. We’re all praying that he gets back on track,” Jeff added, urging Nigerians to keep the actor in their prayers while also appealing for financial assistance to support ongoing medical treatment.

The situation has sparked concern among fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, especially given the actor’s recent struggles with health and accommodation. Supporters continue to flood social media with prayers and donations as hopes remain high for his recovery.
