The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has confirmed that 18 vessels are actively offloading petroleum products and assorted cargoes across major Lagos ports, intensifying maritime activity at Apapa, Lekki and Tin Can Island.

In a cargo status update released on Saturday, the authority disclosed that the ships are currently discharging a diverse mix of imports, including bulk fertiliser, general cargo, bulk sugar, petrol, bulk urea, condensate, gypsum and containerised goods.

The development signals sustained cargo throughput at the Lagos port corridor, widely regarded as Nigeria’s busiest maritime hub.

Beyond the vessels already at berth, the NPA revealed that 46 additional ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other imports are scheduled to arrive between Saturday and February 22. The incoming consignments include general cargo, bulk urea, wheat, empty containers, crude oil, refined crude, gypsum, trucks, bulk gas, pallets, containerised goods, salt and petrol.

The authority further disclosed that seven vessels have already reached Lagos waters and are currently awaiting berthing clearance. These ships are carrying bulk urea, crude oil, diesel, aviation fuel, general merchandise and petrol.

The steady inflow of vessels underscores heightened import activity and sustained supply chain movement through Lagos ports, particularly in petroleum and agricultural commodities.
